Ballintempo Forest
Close to Belcoo village, this forest forms part of a forest area that stretches from Lough MacNean in the west to the shores of Lough Erne below the Magho cliffs in Lough Navar.
Activities
The Ulster Way passes through this forest and connects with a circular walk within the forest that encompasses the Aghanaglack chambered cairn. There is a small car park at the Aghanaglack entrance to the forest.
Occasionally, there may be restricted access to parts of the forest due to forest works so pay attention to safety signage.
About this forest
Together with Carrigan, Big Dog, Conagher and Lough Navar forests they cover a forest area of over 8,500 hectares and is the largest continuous forest in Northern Ireland.
This is mainly a coniferous forest with large open bogland tracts and wooded gullies. This forest is included in the UNESCO Marble Arch Global Geopark.
How to get there
Access to the small car-park at Aghanaglack from Belcoo is five miles via the Aughrim Road and Gaedrum Road following signage to the chambered cairn.
