LPS offices
There are five Land & Property Services (LPS) offices where you can search land and property information, pay your rate bill by cheque or get help to search the Land Registry. You will need an appointment to search the Land Registry or visit a LPS office.
Orchard House public office is currently closed. LPS hope to open the public office as soon as it is possible. Apologies for any inconvenience.
Opening hours
Appointments are available at the Belfast offices from:
- Monday to Thursday from 9.30 am to 4.30 pm
- Friday from 9.30 am to 4.00 pm
Appointments at the Ballymena, Craigavon, Derry and Omagh offices are available from:

- Friday from 10.00 am to 1.00 pm
LPS offices are closed on public and bank holidays.
Making an appointment
If you are planning a visit to a LPS office, you should make an appointment. This will mean that you are seen at a given date and time.
To make an appointment, you need to fill in an online form.
You will need to tell LPS
- your contact details
- details of the relevant property or properties
- what information you need
- the dates and times you are available to visit
Land Registry searches and enquiries
Land Registry searches and enquiries can be made at the LPS office at Lanyon Plaza in Belfast only.
Rates enquiries
For rates enquiries, you can request an appointment in your preferred local office.
LPS will contact you to confirm your appointment. If you need help with the online form, you can call LPS offices on 0300 200 7801 and staff can complete the form on your behalf.
Land and property registries
There is a different search process and list of fees for each register.
If you don't know the folio number or memorial number for land, you can find this by visiting the Belfast office.
Registry of deeds searches for records before 1990 are paper-based and can only be carried out in the LPS Belfast office. You should also visit Belfast office for any queries about the Statutory Charges Register.
At other LPS offices, you can carry out simple Land Registry searches and searches of electronic Registry of deeds records after 1990.
You must be able to identify the relevant property that you wish to search by bringing the relevant folio number to appointments booked outside of Belfast.
In some cases, you may need a map posted from the Belfast office to your home.

Cheque payments
You can leave cheque payments for rates bill into a LPS office without making an appointment. Ask staff at the front desk to direct you to the cheque deposit box.
Make your cheque payable to Land & Property Services, crossed 'rate account’ and write your property address, account ID and ratepayer ID numbers on the back.
LPS offices do not provide facilities to accept any other payment methods onsite, however you can pay your rates at the Post Office or PayPoint outlets.
