Low-carbon heating
Heat is important for homes, businesses, hospitals, and essential services that rely on uninterrupted supplies. Changes to the cost of heating and how you heat your home can affect your quality of life.
Cutting carbon emissions
Changing market prices and the Climate Change Act (Northern Ireland) 2022 means Northern Ireland must cut carbon emissions.
There needs to be new ways to heat homes with new sources, with a focus on low-carbon heating.
Before installing any heating system, try to cut your energy demand by making sure your home is fully prepared for any new type of heating system. Looking at your Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) is a good starting point to help improve the energy efficiency of your property.
There are things you can do to make your home warmer. For example, installing loft and cavity wall insulation not only lowers the amount of heat escaping but could also cut your fuel bills.
