Cancer - help and support
Most cancer patients feel they need some extra help at some stage of their illness and treatment. There are a network of services across Northern Ireland that are there to support you with whatever problems or issues you may be having.
Help available
You may need some information or advice about your cancer, or perhaps you have a practical question – for example about claiming benefits, arranging travel insurance or making decisions about your treatment options.
You might also want to find out about opportunities to meet people who know what you’re going through and can offer you support or friendship at this difficult time.
No matter what advice or support you need, there may well be a self-help or support group that’s right for you.
Friends, family and carers may need support too, because cancer affects not only the person who is ill, but also those around them.
Cancer support services
There is a Macmillan Information and Support Service in every Trust area, linked to your local Cancer Unit.
