About this forest
This forest was originally planted only for timber production. Gortin Glen Forest Park opened to the public in 1967. It covers 1,534 hectares and was the first forest park in Northern Ireland set up in a coniferous plantation woodland.
There's an outbreak of the Japanese larch tree disease (P. ramorum) in the Lislap East area of Gortin Glen Forest. Visitors should follow all health and safety advice on signage and observe biosecurity measures to help prevent spreading tree disease.
