Order an adoption certificate online
Adoption certificates are available from 1931 to the present day. You can order an adoption certificate online from the General Register Office for Northern Ireland (GRONI). You will need a credit or debit card to use this service.
Due to essential maintenance, the GRONI online service will be unavailable from 6.00 pm on Friday 22 November to 8.00 am on Monday 25 November 2024. This will affect customers wishing to use online certificate ordering services or record search facilities. Apologies for any inconvenience.
Before you start
You will need a credit or debit card and the following information:
- full name of person whose adoption certificate you are ordering
- date of birth
- names of adoptive parents
- name of Court which made the order and date of order
A certificate cannot be sent out if you have not given the full details needed when you order.

More information
For the purposes of detection and prevention of crime, information about your application may be passed on to other government or law enforcement agencies.
