Angling at River Margy, Carey and Glenshesk
Ballycastle Angling Club manages Margy, Carey and Glenshesk rivers for the Department of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs (DAERA). The hatchery supplements salmon and sea trout stocks.

Margy River - fly fishing only between Bonamargy Bridge and the confluence of the Carey River. Fly fishing, spinning and worm fishing on the rest of the Margy. Club ticket information
Ballycastle Angling Club manages these fisheries. Fifteen free day tickets are available to holders of DAERA game season permits:
Three of these are available for the stretch from the mouth of the river to its confluence with the Carey and Glenshesk Rivers. There are six tickets available for the Carey River and six for the Glenshesk River from their confluences upstream.
During September and October there will be three identified beats on the Carey and Glenshesk rivers. One day ticket per beat will be available. There will also be two-day tickets available for the Margy stretch during this period.

The Margy River and tributaries are noted sea trout fisheries with a run of salmon late in the season. Fishing on the Margy is almost entirely from the right bank by agreement with the riparian owner, Ballycastle Golf Club.
Anglers should respect golfers’ interests. During golf competitions, fishing from the golf course will be restricted. Check notices for information.
