Careers in Health and Social Care: an introduction

There are many career opportunities within the Health and Social Care (HSC) system in Northern Ireland. All staff working as part of the HSC team play an important role in the delivery of vital care and services to the local population.

Opportunities

Depending on your skills, personal interests and qualifications, there are a wide range of opportunities available. This ranges from doctors and nurses to medical secretaries and hospital porters.

Entry qualifications

Entry qualifications are different for each training programme and job role.

You should always check with the university or college you wish to study at for their specific entry requirements for degree courses and other training programmes.

Qualifications needed for a particular job will be given in a job advertisement or application pack.

How to apply for jobs in Health and Social Care

Job vacancies will be advertised in the local press, in job centres or on the HSC Recruit website.
