Discussions in the Chamber at this time included issues such as the appointment of Robert Given as Town Crier in 1972, a report from the Medical Officer in 1872 on the treatment of fever patients, a health scare focusing on the production of local lemonade which was said to contain sulphuric acid and other poisonous metallic impurities, and the decision to hold the 1875 Royal Agricultural Society of Ireland show in Derry’s Victoria Market.
