This is a document summarising some of the most interesting and significant content within the Downshire archive (D607 and D671) held in PRONI.
Details
The Downshire papers include around 50,000 documents and volumes, and basically consist of family, political and general correspondence, 1707-1868, and estate correspondence and legal and financial records, 1523 to around 1953, on all the Irish estates (and some of the English) of the Downshire family, which were managed from the Irish seat and estate office at Hillsborough, Co. Down.
