Apply to excavate near a road

If you want to make an application for consent to carry out excavations near a road you can use the application form below. As a guide, anything within 12 metres could be regarded as being near a road.
Details
Although there are certain exceptions, such as works by utilities or associated with an approved planning application, it is generally an offence to carry out any excavation near a road without approval.
This application form must be completed by hand, so you will need to print it out, complete it and post to your local Department for Infrastructure (DfI) Roads office.
