Introduction to the Ranfurly papers

Details
The Ranfurly papers are present in PRONI, not in one deposit but in a whole series of deposits on the Knox family, Earls of Ranfurly, and to their estate in and around Dungannon, Co. Tyrone. Unfortunately, they do not include any personal correspondence, although the estate papers are reasonably comprehensive. Some personal papers and correspondence, and further estate material, are still in family possession in Buckinghamshire.
D235, the earliest deposit, consists of 157 leases, bonds and appointments, 1671-1870, and 58 volumes of rent ledgers, rentals and rent receiving books, 1750-1898.
The other deposits consist of:
D476 containing 319 leases, marriage settlements, rentals and wills, 1728-1891, on the Knox family and Thomas Knox Hanyngton;
D804 containing inspection books, patrol books and returns, 1833-1862;
