This is a document summarising some of the most interesting and significant content within the Farnham archive (D3975) held in PRONI.

Details

The Farnham Papers include around 450 documents and six volumes, around 1810 to 1920, of the Maxwell and Maxwell Barry family, Lords Farnham, of Farnham, Cavan, Co. Cavan, and Newtownbarry (Bunclody), on the Carlow/Wexford border. In 1756, the Maxwells had been created Barons Farnham, in 1761 Viscounts Farnham and in 1763 Earls of Farnham, and re-created Viscounts and Earls (after a collateral succession) in 1781 and 1785 respectively.
