Dispose of batteries safely

Getting rid of used batteries
Batteries contain hazardous substances, so it’s important to dispose of them properly.
Disposing of used batteries properly is as simple as bagging them up to take on your next shopping trip. Any retailer or supermarket that sells batteries should take them back for recycling.
There could also be recycling points in local schools, offices, and businesses.
You may also be able to recycle batteries through your kerbside recycling, or take them to your local recycling centre. Check with your local council.
You can find your nearest recycling or donation point using this postcode tracker.
If you can’t remove the battery or power pack, put the whole product in with your electrical recycling – but never in the general waste or recycling bin.
