Further details of contravention code 34B

Contravention code 34B is only used for vehicles parked in a Belfast Rapid Transit (BRT) route bus lane during operational hours displaying a Blue Badge, but parked for more than the permitted 10 minutes. A 10-minute observation period will be applied.

Exemptions to enforcement

During the operating hours vehicles may not park in a bus lane, with the following general exemptions:

emergency services
council/ government departments in pursuance of statutory duties
by or on behalf of the Northern Ireland Transport Holding Company
universal service provider (for example, postal and parcel deliveries)
statutory undertakers (NIE, Water, BT, Gas and so on)
in connection with any building, repair or demolition work
removal of any obstruction to traffic
for access to or from a premises adjacent to or accessible only from the bus lane
for access to or from a lay-by adjacent to or accessible only from the bus lane
Blue Badge holders may wait for a maximum of 10 minutes to allow a person with a disability to get into or out of a vehicle
