Further details of contravention code 34.

Contravention code 34. is used for non-goods vehicles (cars, motorbikes, and so on) seen to be parked in a bus lane during restricted hours without loading. A five-minute observation period is applied. See local signage for permitted loading/ unloading times.

Exemptions to enforcement

During the operating hours vehicles may not park in a bus lane, with the following general exemptions:

emergency services
council/ government departments in pursuance of statutory duties
by or on behalf of the Northern Ireland Transport Holding Company
universal service provider (for example, postal and parcel deliveries)
statutory undertakers (NIE, Water, BT, Gas and so on)
in connection with any building, repair or demolition work
removal of any obstruction to traffic
