Contravention code 23 is summarised as parked in a parking place or area not designated for that class of vehicle.

Ambulance or motorcycle bay

Contravention code 23 shall be used for any vehicle (other than an ambulance or motorcycle) seen to be parked in an ambulance bay or motorcycle bay. No observation period will be applied.

Exemptions to enforcement

Vehicles (other than an ambulance or motorcycle) are not permitted to park in an ambulance bay or motorcycle bay with the following exemptions:

council/ government department in pursuance of statutory duties
emergency services (fire, police, ambulance, customs)
road maintenance
statutory undertaking (NIE Networks, NI Water, BT, and so on)
